#indie

Flight Pattern Productions is in the progress of making their very first feature film titled, #indie (yes, you say the hashtag). #indie is a buddy comedy about two independent filmmakers who enter a filmmaking competition to try and settle their debts.

The idea for #indie came to me at a film festival in Atlanta. There was a comedy film about a guy who enters a cornhole tournament to try and pay off his grandma's debts from loan sharks. It followed all the beats of characters being down on their luck, desperate for money, with an insane time limit and a sports competition being their only chance of hope.

Having been in enough film competitions myself, I thought "why isn't there a movie about film competitions?"

I began writing immediately, and finished the first draft of the script in November 2023.

In October of 2024, we hosted a table read with potential cast members who offered valuable feedback and expressed an interest in being in the film.

Before we knew it, we were beginning principle photography in November 2024, and over just one weekend, we filmed roughly 40 pages of the script.

With everyone volunteering their talents, we needed to wait until after the holidays to begin filming again. By February, we had nearly 60 pages of the script filmed, which was enough footage to create ourselves a trailer.

We put production on hold to host a crowdfunding campaign between March and April 2025. Because we had nearly half of the film already finished, we used that footage to gauge interest, build an anticipating audience, and raise enough funds to finish the movie.

In May, we picked up production once more, using the funds gathered from the crowdfunding campaign to lockdown the needed locations for the film.

#indie is set to wrap on August 3rd, 2025.

#indie will then be put into the rigorous process of post-production with the hopes of being completed in September to meet film festival deadlines.

During it's festival run, we plan to host local screenings in Utah to gauge how it does with audiences.

Finally, after the festival run and local screenings, we will look to shop #indie around to distributors so that more people can fall in love with this incredibly fun film.
